BALL FLOAT
VALVES / ROOF TANKS
1) This is a classic. The
ball valve overflows in the roof tank and the overflow connection is not
made up water-tight.
-
Every so often the water overflows and trickles down
the side of the tank.
-
Please don’t moan at the installer. It has probably
been knocked over the years and has become dislodged.
-
Overflow pipes are very often an odd size if you need
to replace bits of them.
2) Have a look in the little tank
when the heating is on. Is it hot? There may be a restriction in the
pipework which is causing the pump to pump water into the “header” tank.
3) Have a look at any air vents that
may be in the roof. If you have pipework that has to come “up and over” and
drop down one of these vents may be leaking.
